PDF417 is a stacked linear barcode capable of encoding up to 1,850 alphanumeric characters with built-in error correction. Used on government IDs, shipping labels, and airline boarding passes, it requires a minimum X dimension of 0.170mm with each row at least 3X tall and narrow quiet zones of just 2X on each side.
