Shipping labels are the most data-rich barcode application in logistics. A single label may contain multiple barcodes serving different purposes: product identification, routing, tracking, and customs clearance.
GS1-128 Shipping Label
The standard GS1 logistics label (GS1-128) encodes:

- Ground: Code 128 (34-digit tracking barcode)
- Express: PDF417 + Code 128 tracking barcode
- SmartPost: USPS Intelligent Mail barcode for final mile
DHL
- License plate barcode: Code 128 with DHL-specific format
