Native encoding of Chinese characters is the reason Han Xin Code exists: the symbology maps GB 18030, which covers the full CJK repertoire, directly into its data modes rather than routing Chinese text through a byte encoding. Chinese AIM developed it in 2007, and it is published as the national standard GB/T 21049. Capacity reaches 7,827 numeric or 4,350 alphanumeric characters, the largest figure among the matrix symbologies catalogued here. The symbol is square, uses 0.254 mm modules at nominal size, requires one module of quiet zone, and accepts binary as well as text payloads. Unicode support and Reed-Solomon error correction are both present. Outside China reader support is thinner than that of Data Matrix, which constrains its use in cross-border supply chains.
