2D Matrix Family
2D matrix symbologies encode data in a two-dimensional grid of dark and light cells, enabling storage of hundreds to thousands of characters in a compact square or rectangular footprint — dramatically more than any linear barcode. Built-in error correction allows matrix codes to remain readable even when significantly damaged, printed on curved surfaces, or applied by direct part marking methods like laser etching or dot peening on metal components.
